Mother’s Day is this weekend, and my heart is full. :)
I truly LOVE my role as a mother more with each passing year.
Sometimes I wonder how I could have been so lucky?

These children of mine are so sweet & deeply caring, it makes my heart ache sometimes.
It’s important to me that they grow up understanding what true love is.
I want them to know how much I love them, but also how much more deeply God loves them.

Understanding this unconditional love is the best example we have to love others.

I hope you have a special Mother’s day!

I talked husband into manning the camera for this fun session with Autumn & I one afternoon.
I will say, he did a fine job.. so many keepers! :) I love a retro laundromat.

(wish I would have tucked my oldest in here too.. what was I thinking?)

Time to learn – School room

I have been thinking alot lately about creating an environment of learning in my home.
From the games we play, to the books we read, and music we listen to.
I am trying to be more intentional about our time, and make it as educational & fun as possible.
We changed things up a little in our schoolroom.
Creating a corner for reading, a music station, and a table for creative projects.
We love spending time here!

Fabric letter project inspired here.

Geography games.. there are so many ways to be creative with this!

Time to refocus, time to think.. to remember what I am thankful for in life.
These simple moments bring me to my center and to a place of peace.

popcorn & movies

Hello 2013!

We have been covered up with the flu virus for the last few weeks.
It’s taking all my energy for the moment,
but not to worry.. we have been eating soup, watching movies and making plans.

Here is a fun assignment that I’ve had tucked away for awhile.. :)

(One of our favorite treats)

Kettle Corn

1/2 cup popcorn kernals
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup oil
Salt to taste

Heat oil in a large kettle over medium heat.

Then, toss in three kernels, and place the lid on the kettle.

Wait for the kernels to pop.

Once popped, quickly stir in the sugar, and add the remaining kernels.

Replace the lid, and listen for the kernels to start popping.

Once the popping has slowed to once every 2 to 3 seconds,

remove the pot from the heat and transfer to bowl.

Then, salt to taste, and enjoy!

(*extra info.. I use this popper, use coconut oil and season with freshly ground sea salt)

Elf on the shelf

We don’t need much help getting into the Christmas spirit,

but this year we started a new tradition with an elf we named “Ralph”.
He leaves little surprises or notes in his bag each day telling the kids something fun we are going to do together.

It has been the sweetest thing watching their excitement!

Our elf was made by “love, Charla Anne.”
